It’s here, the heatwave in which we’ve all been thinking but not saying those pessimistic words ‘when will it end’ (before it’s even begun) out loud in fear of jinxing this beauty we call sunshine. We’re so used to a two second summer (and that’s being generous) I’m so in awe already of how many consecutive sunny weekends we have had already. The pub is ready to pitch me up my pwn spot, I tell you! As much as I am enjoying this oh so glorious weather, as a classic Brit, it doesn’t come without a little, just a small, teeny moan. Shooting in the heat is hard, even more so when you’re suffering with hay fever. Is it just me, or is it like THE WORST this year? Majority of these shots are completely candid because I had too many ‘hold fire, girl’ moments, tending to my watery, sore eyes. Anyway, despite that, I do really love these photos, mainly for the fact that I feel like I’ve got myself back into a style zone that I’m owning. Flip it all on it’s head and give me a lil’ bit of cutesy all day long (hair ties stuck to head as per).
I’m a real floozy when it comes to fragrance, and I’ve said that in the past, over clothes and make-up, it’s never been a priority purchase of mine. Used to hand-me-downs and the odd cast-offs, or just generic birthday gifts, I really don’t know a peppercorn base note from a grapefruit top note. I don’t know my own interests or preferences in fragrance. When I was introduced to Miller Harris, it was the story that pulled me in. A collection of three new fragrances, Forage by Miller Harris, each with a tale to tell. Hey, I work in marketing, this was always going to pull me in; hook, line and sinker! There is a creative twist to each scent which I love. A spritz of Hidden On The Rooftops, and I’m already in love! Firstly, it reminds me of exactly that. Not that I have been to many rooftop parties in my time, sadly, but I picture myself at sun trap hotspot The Coppa Club in London just peacefully looking out on the river with mimosa in hand. Created with notes of with lime, honey and musk, it’s got that gorgeous sweet but sour scent, something I do tend to look for when I am on the hunt for a new summer spritz. I prefer scents that pack a punch and this lasts all day long I’m happy to report, with compliments from fellow work friends in the bag. I love that this has become an important part in my get ready routine now, a final spritz of this gorgeous fragrance and I’m ready to seek some much needed crisp, cold, Cotes De Provence!
As I said, I’m really enjoying the style side of summer this year. It’s so nice to have the chance to throw on a cute little skirt and a whole tonne of matching accessories. I feel like this outfit is very sixties; the corduroy a-line skirt, the reflective round sunnies and the cutest little hair tie (obvz). Note – if you see me without a hair tie, send for help. For me, it’s actually quite feminine. Naturally I threw on a rather interesting looking mesh top just to give an edge to the whole look. I’ve been going back to my style roots lately and rummaging in vintage stores, looking for cool pieces I can pair together with high street, and what’s already a staple in my wardrobe. Summer is the ideal season to mix things up, clash some prints together, just throw on what feels comfortable, it’s basically t-shirt weather, tie them into a little side knot and they look instantly cute. Let’s face it, anything paired with some serious sunshine rays and a jug of Pimms is a total winner!
I’ve been ticking all the gigs off the list year and it’s so good to be immersed into the live music scene, I’m in my element. I used to go to tonnes of gigs as a kid and I guess ‘adult stuff’ got in the way. Silly really. I’m big on bands but my music taste isn’t just that straight forward and I think it’s more acceptable to be open about that these days. Last week I booked up festival tickets to Community Festival, a line up consisting of You Me At Six, Circa Waves, Two Door Cinema Club, Pale Waves, and many more, yet tomorrow evening I’m off to see Ben Howard and then I’m super keen on bagging Shawn Mendes tickets. Like, eclectic or what?! It’s not a summer without a sick sing-a-long soundtrack, right?
What are your summer plans?
