BBQ’s, seaside spots, flirty skirts and laugh out loud moments, as we reach September, summer as it does, has simply flown by. I have to confess my summer was fairly tame compared to previous years. Maybe I’m getting boring? Maybe I’m just not eighteen anymore. Who am I kidding… there’s some stories banked to spill, no doubt saved for a white wine fuelled post (as per). Summer, whether that be chilled down or dialled up just feels so great, doesn’t it? The brighter mornings and lighter evenings, your mind-set and routine changes from the way you dress to the music you listen to. Weekends feel full, hazy and without even realising, just generally carefree and happy. Saying goodbye to summer comes with its sadness but I must say, I’m really looking forward to that first sip of the year in the form of a pumpkin spice latte (basic bitch points go to me, see t-shirt below).
Tea dresses with a bit of tit – tick! Summer dressing should be fun, flirty, effortless and understated. I definitely came out of my shell a little bit more this time, dressing for warmer sunset scenic evenings. Experimenting with colour was something I really pushed myself to do. Taking a more ‘girly’ approach to my outfits. Refresh yourself with my pink to make the boys wink moment here. Who me? Yes me! Of course, the typical jeans and slogan tees were also a firm favourite go to (as ever) for casual catch-up nights down the pub with my favourites.
The soundtrack to my summer has to be awarded to the long awaited album released by Paramore. I’ve grown up with this band, it has nostalgia all over it. I love it when music feels personal. My music relationship started way back when I was just seventeen and I was handed a cd by them (yes, an actual cd) from my first serious boyfriend is his bright blue corsa. Cliché or what! Fast forward to 2017 and picture this; I’m bombing around in my basic bitch Fiat 500 (late to work as ever) busting out ‘Hard Times’ emulating my very best Hayley Williams lip sync vibes. This girl gets me every god damn time. After Laughter has been blasting out ever since it made it’s appearance on Spotify. ‘Emma, Emma, Emmmmma’, forever are my colleagues shouting my name across the office, I just can’t function day-to-day without music. After Laughter has a song for everyone. Nodding a little more to a tropical pop sound, it’ll definitely get you dancing around the bedroom!
Not one to follow the crowd, I’ve opted for a brighter, blonder do coming into the colder months. I fancied a change and I went with it. I don’t ever think, I just do. ‘I’ll have a bikini body by Christmas’ she says. Better late than never, eh? In addition to hitting up the gym as much as I can (varies week to week, mood to mood) I’ve signed up for a personal trainer. Again, not one for being in line with summer, I am a little late on the scene with this one but I’ve really been enjoying a one-to-one session down the gym.
What were your summer highlights?
