It’s been a good while since I put a favourites post together but with the heat soaring outside I’ve been adjusting my make-up routine as well as sassing up the ol’ wardrobe!
I’ve mentioned it numerous times on this blog but Benefit POREfessional comes out every.single.summer without fail, in fact repeatedly and I slather it all over my chops. It’s an oldie but boy is it a goodie! With the little make-up that I do put on my face in the summer of course I want it to stay in place as long as possible and thankfully this formula is oil free so it does a great job of keeping everything in place without adding any unwanted shine – trust me this heat is doing it’s own job of that.
Red lips don’t tend to scream summer but I have been working my pout alongside a pale pink eyeshadow. Red paired with pink is a hot trend right now, especially in the style department but if you don’t feel brave enough for that then you can definitely work this trend into your make-up routine. Finished off with a natural sweep of highlighter and lashings of mascara this look is so pretty and so damn summery! I’ve been swapping my love for the NYX Matte Lip Creams over to the Ciate Pretty Stix lip shades for the main reason that they feel a lot more comfortable on the lip and for me that’s key when I’m sweating my ass off in the summer.
I’ve revived my love for the No7 Stay Perfect Shade and Define eyeshadow sticks and again, there is a summer related reason as to why. One word: hayfever! I can’t cope, I’m really struggling this year and again, keeping the make-up minimal on the eyes is really important to me so I love that I can give these a quick sweep over the lid without having to go heavy on the make-up front. Speaking of keeping things light on the face, I’ve found a new foundation favourite that I wanted to share with you. As a usual lover of high coverage foundations I was surprised to be impressed by the Lancôme Tient Idole Ultra Wear 24hr foundation as much as I did. The selling point for me is that it feels extremely lightweight on the skin, it’s breathable, long-wearing and blends exceptionally well!
Finally, I wanted to end this post with a little bit of sass. H&M are basically a bloggers dream world right now. Killing it doesn’t even come close, the selection of earrings they have to offer have got us style obsessives running around picking up all kinds of funky Pat Butcher inspired ear candy. I’ve fallen head over heels with a pair of bright turquoise, beaded, gold detailed, OTT, tassel heavy, frankly slightly tacky earrings. A colleague at work has these in red so it gives me comfort in my style choices, we always rock up to the office wearing them on the same day, we’ve got that whole #twinning vibe down! These are just the latest in my H&M earring collection, if you pop on over to my Instagram page you’ll see I’ve snapped up a few other pairs over the past few months.
So there you have it, a long awaited favourites post. I have to say, I rather enjoyed putting that together. Do let me know if you’d like me to do these more often? I don’t cover a great deal of beauty topics over on here anymore but I have to admit I do love a good girly chat about make-up, don’t you?
What are you loving this month?
