THE BEAUTY EDITION: SPRING SKIN

Fishtail hair braids, sexy lace bralets, double denim and a whole heap of highlighter. Coachella has given me some serious social media envy! Dressed to kill and flauntin’ it on Insta stories, everyone looked FAB! So, Coachella style is a little out there for the ‘real world’ (rocking up to work with a face full of glitter might not be the best move) but it’s been inspiring me to dabble in a little spring skin.

I was kindly sent a little Laura Geller package a couple of weeks ago and with a four day bank holiday weekend having just passed I thought I’d give the products a whirl. I’m already dedicated to the Baked Gelato Vivid Swirl illuminators, although I must they are best used for a night on the tiles and as the title of this blog reads, I’m looking for something a little more everyday.

Of course, spring skin is all about rocking a ‘barely there’ beauty look and this means putting my trusty high coverage foundation aside, which gives me slight anxiety I must say! With my oh so natural new products in tow, I sat at my dressing table and gave it my best shot.

Prep

Keeping it simple is key. I’m not into slathering a load of lotions and potions all over my skin. So, I reach for Porefessional primer by Benefit, I tend to use this all year round as it gives me a flawless complexion.

Base

I’m so used to applying my favourite mattifying liquid foundation with my favourite stippling brush that I find it pretty difficult to break out of routine. Trying a powder foundation took me back to my teens! The Laura Geller Double Take Baked Versatile Powder is great for building coverage, this way you can keep it light if you want to! Top tip: use dry with a large powder brush for subtle skin enhancement.

Glow

In all my years of applying make-up (believe it or not, I’ve hit the ripe old age of 27) I’ve never quite mastered that ‘dewy’ look. In actual fact, I’m usually at the other end of the spectrum. Matte is more my style but hey, in the spirit of trying something new I’ve swayed for a sweep of the sumptuously soft and subtle Laura Geller Easy Illuminating Stick in shade Ballerina. There’s no secret with this, the giveaway is in the product title, it’s easy to use with instant results. I just layer this up high on my cheekbones straight from the stick and then pat the product in with my fingers. All that’s left is to say hello to that gorgeous glow!

Finishes Touches

Keeping everything very understated, I finish off with a few coats of mascara and pucker up with a notch up from nude NYX Lip Cream.

What do you think to my take on an everyday natural make-up look?
