My beauty box obsession has taken a little bit of a backseat. I was a loyal Birchbox subscriber for a good year and although I totally loved it I have to admit I do appreciate change. I just felt like trying something new and seeing what else was out on the market. I’m so sorry Birchbox, it’s time to go our separate ways!

So, who caught my eye instead? Something a little less mysterious actually. Latest in Beauty is the perfect box if you prefer to know exactly what is arriving at your door. Although surprises of course can be a good thing, when you’re parting with your hard earned wages it’s sometimes better to be in the know! Latest in beauty, unlike the majority of other beauty boxes, let you pick your own samples from an array of catagories such as skincare, hair, nails, make-up etc! The choices are truly endless. You can also decide how many samples you wish to receive dependant on how much you’d like to pay so there is something for all. I decided to go for a box of six samples, priced at £12.99.

Where do I start?

I have a few instant favourites! First one being the healing bath salts from Maulie, I mean how gorgeous do they sound? With the Summer sun on the brink of hibernation I was looking for some treats ready for bubble bath season. There’s nothing better than a dunk in the tub after a day of battling with the cold. The idea is that you throw a handful of the salts into running water, they will fall to the bottom and once you jump in simply sit back and relax whilst the steam rises and the oil absorbs into your skin. These are great if you want a spa like experience in the comfort of your own home, they’re honestly really lovely! I’m desperate to get my hands on the full sized salts as they come in a gorgeous rose gold tin with a complimentary rose gold scoop – i’m in love!!

Another favourite from the box is of course in the form of a highlighter, personally, you just can’t have too many. The highlight shimmer from MUA Luxe is essentially a stick of pure golden gorgeousness. It’s bold and sassy, more for an evening look but then again in my opinion, the more highlight the better!

Thanks to Latest in Beauty I have found my new favourite perfume! When I heard that Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was teaming up with M&S to launch her own line of lingerie, make-up and fragrance I was pretty damn excited. I’m still yet to try anything from the make-up range but when I saw her fragrance on the Latest in Beauty list I just couldn’t resist. Nuit is a gorgeous scent and it’s totally me! With notes of deep musk and hints of precious oils from the French centifolia rose this scent is feminine but with a warm undertone, perfect for the up and coming Autumn season. The sample was a generous one at 15ml but I’m totally addicted so it wont be lasting too long. I’ll just have to pick up the full size, won’t I?

Finally, I stocked up on a few much needed handbag essentials. I grabbed a COLAB dry shampoo, totally ideal for after work top ups when I’m heading to an event.. or more likely a bar! I’ve always been a fan of L’Occitane and this comes from my mum so I picked up the cutest handcream and again, a good one to carry around in the colder months.

Overall I’m really pleased with what I received in my box. What I like most is that without the pressure of a rolling contract you can easily just order one whenever you feel like it, fancy trying something new or just need a stock up of your favourites. Not forgetting, this would make an ideal gift.
