Coconut oil seems to be on the subject of everyone’s lips right now, it also seems to be passing everyone’s lips in the form of nutritious homemade sweet treats! We all know there are multiple uses for this on-trend delight. You can slather this stuff on your skin for a silky smooth effect, coat your hair in it for sleeker lookin’ locks or simply whip up some delicious American style protein pancakes. I know which one I’m tempted by most!
How about some, let’s say, controversial uses for coconut oil?
Are you suffering with a serious case of Summer hay fever? I’m lucky, I get the odd sneezing fit now and then but in general it doesn’t really affect me. I’ve heard on the grapevine that if you rub a little bit of coconut oil on the inside of the nostrils it will help to alleviate allergy symptoms.. who knew! If this works then it would save an expensive trip to the chemist.
On the subject of sneezing, if you’re struck down with a cold then a tablespoon of coconut oil in a hot cut of tea is said to help speed up recovery from the dreaded flu. Now, although the only thing you want is to feel better when you’re sick, I’m not too sure that a creamy coconutty tea would be a treat for the tastebuds but a drop of it in a cup of coffee I could do! Ease into the idea with some infused instant coffee grounds, try Little’s Coconut Island from Holland & Barrett.
Time for a tipple? I’ll round-up with something sweet and less off the wall! Coconut oil is so damn good for your nutritional needs, so why not whip up a super healthy smoothie? My all time favourite is the Raspberry Revitaliser which I found on Deliciously Ella’s blog and this is a recommendation that she has posted. It’s super easy to make and tastes totally delicious, ideal for a Monday Morning on-the-go brekkie option.
I think it’s safe so say that coconut oil is the most perfect multiuse product, we might as well just bathe in the stuff!
