It’s been a long time since I have had a weekend cooped up at home, and the thought of that used to send me bonkers but I have actually been craving some much needed me time! I do deserve a little smack on the bottom, you may have noticed that I have been absent for a week or so over on my blog and please accept my apologies for that, I’m very much still adjusting to work life and I think I underestimated how long that would take. Don’t grow up kids!! So, I turned off the work mobile and spent this weekend at home, bar a much needed trip to the hairdressers I had the two days to myself. To be honest, I needed one of the days to do all of the boring chores and catch up with the laundry.. snooze! With tidying up in mind I gave my living room a little spruce up and I finally found a moment to put a new print up on the wall. To me, there is nothing more satisfying than getting the ol’ house in order and I thought that I would share a few updates with you.
After a good clean the first thing I do is run down to Tesco and grab some fresh flowers. I have mentioned a few times in various posts that there is no better way to brighten up a room in my eyes, fresh flowers just brings everything together and finalises the little details. I usually go for Tulips but I saw this Rose and lilac combo and thought that they would really stand out on my dark oak coffee table.
As you can see, the general theme of the living room is in the form of moody grey hues – bit like my own feelings sometimes ha! Jokes aside, I wanted to go against the whole copper craze and bring something quite soft to the place I will be chilling out in. My absolute favourite item in this room is the ever so gorgeous metallic lantern which I got from Wayfair, whenever I have friends or family over they always comment on this piece plus I love the ‘no, surely not’ reaction I get when I tell them it was under 20 quid!
The basket isn’t new but I thought I would give it a little feature. There is always that empty spot in a room that you just don’t know what to fill it with and that’s exactly where this basket came in handy for me, it sits nicely at the end of a corner sofa. I have filled it with spare cushions and blankets which adds a nice cosy feel to the room.
In my opinion I have saved the best until last. Marble interior is taking over and as much as I too adore the classic white and grey effects I spotted a different take on it in the form of a print. As soon as I spotted this gorgeous print I knew I had to have it, the colours within it compliment all of the above, plus typography prints are my ultimate favourite. I picked up this beauty recently from Junk and Glitter who have some awesome stuff on their online shop, there is another one that reads ‘have courage and don’t give a crap’ this is next on my list!
Now that my home is back to its orderly self I can finally relax. How are you spending your Sunday?
