It’s winter woollies time! So, i know it was only less than a week ago that i was blogging about summer scents but frankly i was kidding myself. I have caved in and put the heating on, it seems to have suddenly dropped to temperature abso-lutely-freezing. The leaves from the trees are starting to fall and the conkers are making an appearance and that kind of setting is just not made for bare legged dresses. There is one ultimate fashion essential that has been helping me cope with the transition to Autumn and that is this gorgeous cosy, grey tassled cape. This has really kept the chill off, especially when it’s that rather strange but pretty weather of looking deceivingly sunny yet it’s super crisp and cold.
I think capes are a gorgeous throw over item, perfect for when the scarf just won’t suffice, it’s just a great accessory for wrapping up those shoulders when you want to leave the house for a pumpkin spiced latte (all hail Starbucks). I have had my eye on a few for quite some time and i have been on and off with the idea of picking up one with some sort of pattern on, although i didn’t want it to look, dare i say it, too festive. Winter continues throughout January and so on, i really think i would be sick of the sight of a fairisle print by then so i went for plain.
I ordered my Cape from Asos and i can vouch for the fact that there are so many to choose from so if you don’t want to be a plain Jane like me then you won’t struggle to find something with a pop of colour. Personally i adore this dusky grey shade and i think it will pair really well with some sort of skater dress, thick black tights and chunky platform boots. My style certainly takes on more of a ‘rock chick’ look in the winter months, i love a gothic hue.
You could definitely call this cape more of a blanket, i suppose, i’m 5ft 2 so i’m sure you can understand my pain when purchasing ‘one size’ clothing. Either way, i know that on a cold and frosty Monday morning when i’m struggling to function and would prefer an extra ten minutes in bed this is going to be my ultimate last minute outfit saviour… and a flask filled with coffee, never forget the coffee!
