The Favourites Edition: June 2015

My recent posts have been very much beauty related so i thought i would mix it up in my monthly favourites and talk about all things non-beauty that i have been loving lately. Think stress relief and festivals as that’s been my vibe for the month of June.

Firstly i have been completely into a colouring book! Yep that’s right, seriously i know what you’re thinking, is she five years old? Millie Marotta’s Animal Kingdom book is the best desk book around, it’s an art book packed with beautiful illustrations ready to be filled in and the minute i saw it i was sold. I’m creative person anyway so this is something i would love to do in my spare time but if i’m being frank with you the reason i like it so much is because it’s sooo stress busting. I work in a pretty high pressured office so i grabbed this for lunch time breaks where i could completely cut off for an hour, honestly it’s totally therapeutic! The colouring pencils i already had from so long ago which i picked up online from Dotcomgiftshop. They came with a desk tidy that i bought when i first started my office job two years ago, they’ve sat on my desk without a purpose since then – they look cute though, right? The book was purchased from The Book People who pass by our office monthly but they are online too, I’ve had a quick peek and they have an entire category for ‘Art Therapy’ so if you need some sort of release from the day to day stresses then this could be for you, armed with a cup of tea and a chocolate biscuit you’ll quickly forgot your troubles.

My other favourite of the month that deserves a mention is Rhythms of The Word Festival, if you’ve heard of Hitchin then you’ve heard of this, an iconic non-profit festival that brings fun for all ages to the town of Hitchin annually. Promoting bands and artists nearby and far this year was no disappointment, with acts such as CC Smugglers, The Shires, Fort Hope and not to mention the talented brother of James Bay, Alex Bay & The Blackbirds (these guys have some serious musical genes) enough talent to keep me dancing all night long with Pimms in hand. This music festival is top of my summer list each year so local, full of life and completely run by volunteers! This was the perfect place to be on the weekend of summer solstice.

Are you heading to any festivals this summer?

How lovely of you to drop by!
