In need of last minute bank holiday plans? Want to occupy the kids but don’t want to spend a fortune? If you have weather on your side (sadly not guaranteed) there are some fantastic places to spend the bank holiday without blowing the budget. I’m constantly trawling the internet in search of places to take my niece and recently stumbled upon Thrift Farm in Buckinghamshire (super close to Milton Keynes) it’s adorable, a perfect place to venture to on a bank holiday Monday. It’s free for little ones under two and just £2.00 for children up to sixteen so certainly won’t be breaking the bank. I’m 25 and i still love a good farm, i may have even enjoyed myself more than my niece Ella! There were plenty of animals for her to get excited about from free roaming ducks to bunny rabbits, donkeys, pigs, sheep and goats. As well as feeding the animals there is plenty of grass space to feed yourselves, a picnic afternoon would be ideal here especially sitting across from one of the lovely, scenic river streams. Don’t panic if you can’t find a blanket to take along, there is a quaint tea room on site serving scones with clotted cream and jam, which by the way were bloomin’ delicious!
If making tracks to the countryside is a bit too far for you i.e the kids don’t travel well without repeatedly screaming ‘are we there yet’ then London is a great central place to head to. Forget the tourist attractions, been there, done that, there are some FREE yes you heard free events to consider this weekend. Borough Market is London’s oldest market, made for foodie lovers it’s worth a trip for a gourmet treat. If all the above talk about picnics got your attention then Greenwich Park boasts gorgeous views across the river Thames. You are spoilt for choice when it comes to Museums but i have to say that The Natural History Museum is my personal favourite! Time Out London is a fantastic website packed with ideas for all the family, young or older.
Whatever your plans this Bank Holiday Monday i hope it’s enjoyable, i’ll be praying for sun!
